Our Curriculum: Shaping Positive Futures
At Wolfreton, our ambitious and inclusive curriculum is driven by our vision of Shaping Positive Futures and underpinned by our values of Excellence, Endeavour and Respect. We aim to build knowledge, skills and independence over time through a carefully sequenced approach.
Our curriculum begins by consolidating knowledge from Key Stage 2 and progressively develops understanding across topics, terms and years. Strong foundations in English and maths are prioritised, while every subject is valued. At Key Stage 3, all national curriculum subjects are taught weekly, ensuring breadth and balance. At Key Stage 4, alongside core subjects, students choose from a wide range of options. Our guided preferences process ensures access to the humanities, arts, sport, technology and more - supporting passions and future pathways, whether to Level 3 courses, university or local employment opportunities. At Key Stage 5, this breadth continues, with clear routes to higher education, apprenticeships and careers.
Our ethos of Igniting Fires and Expanding Horizons inspires students to discover interests that shape ambitions. Subject specialists identify key concepts and themes, embedding regular retrieval practice to strengthen learning. Reading is prioritised, and targeted support accelerates progress where needed.
Teaching is evidence-informed, guided by our Teaching and Learning Framework. Through modelling, questioning, feedback and retrieval, teachers - experts in their fields - build knowledge, skills and confidence. Students often tell us their teachers inspire them to love learning and make positive choices for the future.
Beyond academic lessons, our Personal Development curriculum delivers The Wolfreton Experience, including PSHE, enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities. Through our Behaviour Curriculum and careers programme, we develop cultural capital and character virtues:
-
Excellence – striving to be the best we can be
-
Endeavour – showing determination and courage
-
Respect – promoting friendship and equality
Our curriculum is more than timetables; it reflects our ethos, values and relationships - what we call The Wolfreton Way. Ultimately, we aim to allow everyone to flourish and believe they have every chance of success, and in to doing so to be proud of their many achievements.
