Uniform
All students in years 7 to 11 are expected to wear our school uniform. Sixth Form students are not required to wear an agreed uniform, however their standard of dress should be appropriate and suitable for wear around younger students.
To order school uniform
Our school uniform provider is Steady School Wear. They offer a local shop for parents and students to visit and also a website for online orders. Uniform can be purchased:

All items purchased are delivered to the address of your choice. There is a postage charge on orders below £100 but this is free for orders over this amount.
PE Kit
All students in Years 7 to 11 are expected to wear our PE kit for their PE lessons.
To guarantee delivery for the start of September, all orders for uniform and PE kit need to be placed with Steady School Wear by a date in August – this will be communicated to parents each year.

Girls
House Tie |
Wolfreton House tie, worn with top button of blouse fastened. 7-8 full stripes to be showing at all times. Please confirm House colour before purchase.* |

Black girl’s blazer with School logo. The blazer must be worn to the School every day. |
Shirt / Blouse |
Plain white, formal uniform type of standard length to tuck in and with standard shirt type collar. Sleeves may be full length or short. No fitted shirts, no darts, no trim, motifs, writing, logos or coloured buttons. All shirts must be worn tucked in. If a t-shirt / thermal is worn underneath for warmth this must not be visible, must be plain white with no writing or logos and sleeves must not extend beyond the shirt. |
Skirt |
Plain black tailored skirt. Skirts must sit no more than just above the knee. Skirts should not be of stretchy material or skintight. Any belt must be plain black with a small, plain black buckle. N.B. The black Colchester skirt that meets the school policy is available from the school uniform supplier. |
Trousers |
Smart, tailored, plain black, formal uniform type. No close-fitting trousers, lycra, jean, cotton or cord type material. Trousers must be worn to cover ankles; no capri / cropped trousers. Any belt must be plain black with a small, plain buckle. N.B. The black Slimbridge and Trimley trousers that meet the school policy are available from the school uniform supplier. |
Socks |
Plain black, grey or white socks. Plain black tights. |
Footwear |
Plain, black, polishable leather or leather-look shoes with flat / low heels (No other type of shoe e.g. fabric, sandals, baseball boots, sports trainers are permitted). Plain, black, polishable ankle boots are only permitted if worn with school trousers that conceal the boot (no UGG boots or knee length boots). Shoes with logos in contrasting colours are not permitted. Decorations are not permitted. Laces must be black. |
V-necked jumper (optional) |
Black school jumper with the Wolfreton logo. No plain black jumpers. N.B. A crew neck sweatshirt with a school logo is not part of the school uniform policy. |

Dress code for practical subjects |
An apron to protect clothes. Young people may buy their own or borrow a school apron. For heavy craft work, it is important that strong, practical shoes are worn in workshops. |

Smart and Business-like
Watches/Jewellery |
Young people may wear: No additional earrings or piercings may be worn in the ear or elsewhere. Bars or spacers are not permitted. No other bracelets or necklaces should be worn. |
Hair | Extreme hair styles are not permitted. This includes unnatural colours for example, blue, green, pink, purple, bright red and designs cut into the hair, for example tramlines. |
Make-up | Young people may only wear subtle foundation, suitable for a business environment. No heavy eye shadow / mascara and no false eye-lashes. No nail varnish or acrylic / gel type nails. |
Body / facial piercings |
Body / facial piercings are incompatible with life in a safe-working, business-like school environment and are not permitted to be worn. If a young person has a piercing in the summer holiday, it must be done in the first two weeks of the |
Tattoos |
Young people with a tattoo / tattoos are required to keep them covered at all times. |
Coats and hooded tops |
Coats are likely to be required for inclement weather. Coats with decorated with inappropriate phrases / text are not permitted. |
Hats |
Hats are not permitted except in extreme weather (except for religious observance or medical need). In such weather they may be worn outside but must not be worn anywhere in the school building. |
Accessories |
Earphones, scarves, significant hair accessories or additional accessories are not part of the school uniform and must not be worn. If a belt is required this must be thin and black. |
Wolfreton ‘team’ items |
Hoodies and jumpers bearing the school logo may be purchased by team / cast / trip members. These may not be worn in the school as part of the school uniform. |
Mobile devices |
The use of mobile devices is not permitted on the school site. Mobile devices must be turned off and kept in bags, out of sight during the school day. Audio equipment / speakers are not permitted in school. Any young person who brings a mobile device or audio player to school with them does so at their own risk. The school takes no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of these items. |
Money / wristwatches |
Any small sums of money or wristwatches brought to school are the young person’s responsibility during the day including morning break and lunchtime. |
School bag | Students are expected to bring a suitable school bag each day, large enough to carry their books / files. |

Any item deemed inappropriate by the school must be removed. Refusal to remove inappropriate items will be addressed through the Positive Discipline Policy.
