Technology

In Technology, young people study Design and Technology and Food at Key Stage 3. At Key Stage 4 they can choose to study GCSE Design and Technology, GCSE Food and Nutrition and BTEC Engineering.

Key Stage 3 

Year 7

  1. Lamp project (RM) properties of woods and simple electronic systems
  2. Graphic design sketching Isometric, and 1,2-and 3 point perspective design concepts
  3. Juggling animal (TEX) properties of natural and synthetic materials. Hand sewing and simple assembly techniques
  4. Healthy eating/ kitchen tools

Year 8

  1. Electronic board game Using CAD/CAM jigs and templates. Complex electrical inputs/outputs
  2. Graphic design holistic techniques, orthographic drawing modelling of packaging designs
  3. Draw string bag Practical use of sewing machines and textiles equipment safely and accurately
  4. Food safety/ practical skills

Year 9 Rotation

  1. Bridge design and test. Modelling bridge ideas and making a model, Testing to destruction, CAD simulation and testing
  2. Textile recycle/re-imagining project. Textile hand skills and machine skills. Environmental awareness and sustainability
