RAF Education Show

Many thanks to the Royal Air Force for bringing their interactive and engaging 'Fun with Flight' Education Show to our Year 8 students today. Students learned about the physics of flight - lift, drag, thrust and weight, as well as the 60+ different career opportunities available in the RAF.

Students learned that out of the 33,000 people employed by the RAF, only 2,000 are involved in flying aircraft. In total 39% of RAF personnel are engineers and this can range from the more obvious hands on mechanical engineering to lesser known computer programming, communications and cyber security, all areas in which engineering plays an important role.  After an action packed show, Sergeant Urwin gave a presentation about his role as a Logistics Driver and took a question and answer session from students, giving them a fascinating insight into life in the RAF.
