The Wolfreton Rushanje Community
Partnership
Anything of real value should be sent recorded and insured.
Cash should not be sent, but we are aware of small amounts being sent in letters without any problems.
If you are asked for anything which is unrealistic, it is best to ignore it or refer to the fact that you are already providing them with an education which is the best gift you could provide.
INFORMATION
Things to avoid:
Try to remember that there is a vast difference in our cultures and possessions and avoid references to many things that we take for granted which will further the view that the west have everything.
Luxury electrical appliances and goods, the latest fashions and designer clothes, expensive jewellery, salaries / pocket money, controversial politics
Things to include:
The social culture and values found in Uganda are to be admired. Concentrate on these aspects.
Social information, family and friends, school events, jobs, hobbies, sport, pastimes, send and receive photographs. Ask / send school progress information, test results, subject likes and dislikes,
world and local news, newspaper cuttings / articles etc.
