Meningitis advice

We have learnt today that one of our students has been admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis.  The meningitis may be due to meningococcal infection. The Public Health doctor has advised me that meningitis/septicaemia due to meningococcal infection is a rare illness. Even where the diagnosis is confirmed, it is very unusual to see a second case.  The attached letter provides more information.

Please join me in wishing our ill student member a smooth and rapid recovery.
