January 2010 external exams

Students sitting exams in January 2010 have been issued with their individual timetables, showing both first time entries and re-sit exams students have paid for. The timetables show the date, time, length and, if appropriate, tier of each exam they are entered for. Seating plans for GCSE exams will be in the display cabinets near the dining hall and for Sixth Form exams in the windows of the Sixth form Building during the exam season. Students should check their seat number before each exam.

Morning exams start at 9.15am and afternoon exams at 1.40pm. If a student is ill and unable to attend an exam a medical note must be obtained and handed into school as soon as possible, otherwise parents will be invoiced for the exam fee, which the school has already paid.

The results for these exams will be distributed to students on Friday 12 March, together with a re-sit form. Please note that the deadline for re-sit entries will be Wednesday 17 March, to comply with the board set entry deadlines. Please note that GCSE Science units can only be re-taken once. Any re-sit entries made after this date will be subject to late fees and an administration fee.

Summer 2010 GCSE and GCE exam dates

Formal, external exams will take place between Monday 17 May and the last date for all exams is Wednesday 30 June. There will be no exams during the Whit half term, Monday 31 May and Friday 4 June. Candidates may also have language speaking tests, art controlled assignments etc before the main exam period. These tests are organised by the department concerned and students will receive details of the dates and times from the departments.

Year 10 and 11 students will receive an individual timetable, via their tutor, showing exams which they have been entered for by their teaching staff and any re-sit entries which were not available in January, week beginning 14 February 2011. Please note that the results for exams taken in January will not be in school until March and some students may wish to re-sit units, therefore updated timetables may need to be issued in March.

Year 12 and 13 individual timetables will be issued to students via Sixth Form pigeon holes week beginning March 14 2011.

In all cases individual timetables should be carefully checked, including personal details and tiers of entry, if relevant, shown as ‘F’ for Foundation and ‘H’ for Higher, and the exams office informed of any errors or omissions as soon as possible.

If parents/guardians have any queries regarding examinations they should contact Mrs Powell, the Exams Officer.
